What's all the buzz about COACHING?:

  • Coaching transforms how you think and feel about your Self, your work and your place in the world - and what you do, as a result of new perspectives

  • Coaching expands your self-confidence and self-knowledge

  • Coaching helps you trust your innate abilities, commit to your dreams, & develop strategic plans to achieve and excel at what you love

Coaching is for you if you are:

  • in transition (or thinking about it)

  • starting a new project, career or relationship

  • wanting more personal power and sense of possibility

  • curious about your mission in life

  • needing some rapid de-stressing techniques

  • seeking strategies to implement your ideas, hopes & dreams

  • searching for spiritual growth

Coaching The Full Spectrum—

When reduced to its simplest form, coaching is all about two questions: "what do you want?" and "by when do you want it?"

But that simple question "what do you want" gets short-circuited so easily by our internal self-criticism and "lies" about our selves and our capabilities! Our minds work overtime, telling us all the reasons why we can't have what we want, or at least not now. Sometimes, our thoughts are so quiet and familiar to us that we don't even notice they have thrown a wet blanket over our dreams, passions and plans.

I will coach you about what matters to you - encouraging you to pull out the stops and cast off the personal and cultural "myths" that impede your full development. We'll look at all aspects of your life--career, relationships, health, money, physical environment, personal growth, etc. As a Co-Active coach, I am trained to support you in setting the agenda and focus of our overall coaching relationship and of each session.

I see you as healthy, whole and resourceful. I will be your facilitator, sounding board, mentor, truth-sayer (i.e., the things even your best friends may not tell you--but without judgment or an ax to grind) and occasional task master. I will help you establish measurable goals and milestones along your chosen pathways--for small life-improving steps or to implement a big vision.

Coaching combines an exciting range of perspectives and rich empowerment tools. We'll use the ones that work best for you.

No matter what focus brings you into coaching, I encourage my clients to pay at least some attention to each and every major area of life. I believe people do best when they lead balanced lives, even when they are pursuing a new business opportunity, facing difficult challenges or dealing with a relationship gone awry. By being able to include the possibility of greater satisfaction and fulfillment in all areas of life, the ones under particular scrutiny at any given time seem to open up with new perspectives and additional avenues for resolution. Progress and change often appear from "left field" - that is, from some unexpected source or happening, some synchronicity you recognize as a new future because you have done the work to unearth your deeply held dreams and desires.

As a coach I bring the following perspectives, orientations, skills, practices and beliefs to the table:

vision integrity compassion honesty directness without directiveness energy resources and resourcefulness appreciation and acknowledgment flexibility humor creativity possibility and potential nonjudgmental listening commitment questioning and curiosity validation structure supportiveness appropriate concern brainstorming strategic planning neutrality accountability passion responsiveness

Individual Coaching Sessions and Rates

Following an initial co-creative conversation to determine if we are a good match as coach and client, I like to start new coaching relationships with a two hour "opening session". In preparation for this session, I will ask you to fill out some informational forms which will help you explore some important questions and help me get to know you and your personal objectives.

During our opening session, we'll talk about how structured you'd like our coaching sessions to be, how best to motivate you, how much input you want, and other matters that will help us set up a strong working alliance. This session can be conducted in person (I live in the Bay Area) or over the phone. I charge $300. for this two-hour session.

After that, I generally recommend that we talk for two 45-minute sessions or 3 30-minute sessions per month at a cost of $225 or three 45-minute sessions a month for $340.00. If other time frames work better for you, we can arrange a different schedule and appropriate rates. Sliding scale, special rates and scholarships available. Special rate (new clients only): Need to work on an isolated issue? Let's talk for a single 1-hour session at a cost of $125.

Coaching for Organizations and Associations

I work with organizations in specially designed formats - presentations, workshops, meeting and agenda planning, team-building exercises, life balance, restructuring, transition and change, project design and implementation, employee empowerment, management-employee relationships, communication skills, and/or strategic planning, group dynamics, group process, participatory decision-making and consensus-building.

Sample presentations and workshops include:

  • Stress Reduction
  • Brainstorming
  • Participatory Decision-Making And Consensus Building
  • Creating Intracultural Change For More Congenial Working Relations
  • Setting Agendas and Running Effective Meetings

Please call me with your wish-list, ideas and opportunities and we will design a proposal together.

I think Susan's expertise would be an invaluable asset whenever one is considering new opportunities or change of any type."
